I have long been intrigued by Sancai Parrots, which are antique earthenware parrots made in the nineteenth century in northern China. Frequently they were used as incense burners in temples. I drew some parrots based on these delightful antiques and the Parrot Collection resulted. We added some notepapers starting with these ikat bordered squares featuring our small parrots in the center. Of course, like many of our designs, these can be used however your imagination leads.
