Community Forum Rules and Comment Policy

Our mission is to facilitate, inspire and aid in thoughtful communication by offering products with verve and flair. We are pleased to have a space for our community and have the following community guidelines and public comment policy:

ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY RULES:

  • Treat all users fairly and equally. Stimulate conversation, be respectful of others’ views, and refrain from personal attacks.
  • Respect intellectual property rights, do not plagiarize work, and give credit to the originators of ideas.
  • Don’t share the posts of others without permission.
  • We reserve the right to delete comments at our discretion and block any repeat offenders. We will remove content that is fraudulent, deceptive or misleading.


ETIQUETTE:

  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal material is strictly prohibited.
  • Discriminatory, hostile or intimidating messages will not be tolerated, whether based on a person’s race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, social or economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, or mental or physical ability.
  • Be mindful and respectful of linguistic background—while the language for online for a discussions is English, remember not everyone is a native English speaker/writer.
  • Keep subject lines clear so that members can respond easily and search the archives.
  • Do not private message members for help or other purposes. If you need help, request a new thread so the entire community can help and benefit.
  • Include only the relevant portions of the original message in replies.
  • Avoid administrative messages, such as remove me from the list (use the web interface to change your personal settings).
  • Spamming, posting promotional material or posting links to third party websites is not permitted.
  • Please do not post images larger than 600 x 600. This is considerate to members with slower internet speeds and keeps the forum looking neat.
  • Please do not post inappropriate material, if you would not feel comfortable viewing in front of children or parents, don’t post it.



CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE COMMUNITY RULES:

  • For Minor first offenses; a warning will be issued and the tally of marks against will begin.
  • For Minor Second offenses; another warning will be issued and another mark will be added.
  • For Minor Third offenses, a temporary ban will be enacted.  The length of the ban will depend on the level of the infraction.

If there is another infraction after your ban is lifted, it will be assumed that you will not refrain from the repetitive behavior and the ban will become permanent.

For any major offenses and behavior which will not be tolerated, an immediate ban will be enacted.

MODERATION:

We’re here to help, the moderation team works diligently to maintain this Community for advice, story sharing and responses to our quarterly challenges.

All posts to the community show up right away, we do not screen community activity before it goes live.  This is called reactive moderation and it means we can keep the community open around the clock.

We seek your assistance in helping us, so you may report any post or item you deep as inappropriate by clicking the report as objectionable link on the bottom right corner of a post.  The moderators will review each complaint and follow up as needed.

PRIVACY POLICY:

We are committed to respecting the privacy of our members.  We do not sell, rent, or share any personally identifiable information shared by our members or our membership mailing list.  To learn more, please review our full privacy policy.

LEGAL NOTICE:

Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without permission.  By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that they own the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner.  In addition, the posting party grants Friday House and users of this site the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print and use such information or other material.

Friday House provides communication tools as a service for its members. Friday House is not responsible for opinions and information posted on this site or list.  Friday House does monitor, postings on this site, but does not moderate postings.  If any inappropriate pposting is brought to the attention of Friday House staff, Friday House reserves the right to take appropriate action, including, without limitation, terminating access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:

To the extent allowed under law, Friday House (a) disclaims all implied warranties and representations (e.g. warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of data, and non-infringement); (b) does not guarantee that the communications tools will function without interruption or errors, and (c) provide the communication tools (including content and information) on an “as is” and “as available” basis.  To the extent permitted under law (and unless Friday House has entered into a separate written agreement that overrides this contract), Friday House will not be liable to you or others for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunities, reputation, profits or revenues, related to the communications tools (e.g., offensive or defamatory statements, downtime or loss, use of, or changes to, your information or content).  In no even shall the liability of Friay House exceed, in the aggregate of all claims, US$1000.00. This limitation of liability is part of the basis of the bargain between you and Friday House and shall apply to all claims of liability (e.g. warranty, tort, negligence, contract, law) and even if the internet society has been told of the possibility of any such damage, and even if these remedies fail their essential purpose.

TO APPLY TO BE A MODERATOR:

Applicants must be a member for between 90-120 days.  Members post in the forum, helping others often.  Members have a track record of inspiring others with their use of products or results.  Members may also have a history of referrals which convert.
